Dogs generally can react to toxicity from hydrocortisone. However, for a 13-year old dog with an extreme skin reaction to fleas, and the stress and scratching that the fleas and skin irritation cause him, I recently bought Remedy Recovery 0.5% Hydrocortisone Lotion for Dogs. He has been scratching at his ears, so I’ve applied it on the inside flaps (not in the ear canal) and on his back where he can’t reach to lick. I’m monitoring his reaction, and the redness has begun to fade.
